Question by AC: How is the resale value of a Porsche Boxster S? And how much should one budget for annual maintenance?
I pretty much have my heart set on acquiring one. But want to be fully prepared for it. Any good information on these questions would be appreciated including estimated replacement tenors for tires, brakd pads, rotars, transmission fluid (for stick) etc. etc.

The re-sale values on Boxsters are not as good, as say the 911, but that being said, I don’t think a $ 100,000 Cayenne will hold it’s value as well as a 911 either.

The problem is becoming one of exclusitivity, as MANY more Porsches are being made than ever before.

That being said, the Boxster is a an outstanding drivers car, and fairly practical having two trunks, and nearly a decade of research and developement behind it.

If buying new, check out what is covered maintainence/replaced in included/warranty. I would not recommend buying replacement tires at a dealer…very pricy.

Be careful on the options and gimmicks…a DVD nav system may seem trick, but, really, do you need ANOTHER screen in front of you? And technology has a way of coming overnight, leaving it obsolete. LOT’s of Porsche sold in the 80′s were sold with a trick Clifford alarm system, only to leaving gapping holes and dash which look unsightly, and diminish resale value. A cell-phone and Mapquest and a general map are MORE than enough to find your way.

Options on a Boxster can make the car nearly double in price(and THAT’s where they really make a killing in profit).

I would go to the website,check out standard spec’s, options and THEN build your car from there. An impulse buy at the dealer is likely to leave you disapointed down the road.
