The car is running great, although the “check engine light” just went on. Also, are authorized dealers generally much more expensive than independent Porsche mechanics (I have heard to stay away from authorized dealers?. First Porsche, virtually no knowledge with cars, much less Porsche’s. Thanks.

It depends on if it is an Automatic or manual transmission and it depends on the area you live in.
If Automatic, it should cost around $ 350-400.
If Manual, it should cost around $ 300-350.

I’m looking for actual Boxster owners to give me their honest opinion. I’m considering a 2001-2003 Boxster but I’m worried about how much it will cost to maintain or repair if necessary. I’m not much for DIY. Let me know your thoughts.

my friends mom has a marketing buddy who owns one and he makes 150k a year.. And it kills him.. the oil change was about 270 dollars spark plugs costed him 900

My compressor ceased up 2 weeks ago. I cut the belt, and I am able to drive the car with no problem. Summer is fast approaching, and I have been given a quote of $ 1500 for a new a/c system (around $ 1000 if it is just the compressor). Any Porsche mechanics out there?

I went to autohausaz.com. I used them to rebuild 3 german cars (2 BMW’s and a wrecked New beetle).
For your compressor: $ 350
Expansion valve: 30
accululator: 30
Condensor: 300
Evaporator: 400
Price comes to: $ 1110 for all that.
Those are all brand name parts also.
