How much does a new a/c cost on a 1990 Porsche 911?

Question by Tank Jr.: How much does a new a/c cost on a 1990 Porsche 911?
My compressor ceased up 2 weeks ago. I cut the belt, and I am able to drive the car with no problem. Summer is fast approaching, and I have been given a quote of $ 1500 for a new a/c system (around $ 1000 if it is just the compressor). Any Porsche mechanics out there?

I went to autohausaz.com. I used them to rebuild 3 german cars (2 BMW’s and a wrecked New beetle).

For your compressor: $ 350
Expansion valve: 30
accululator: 30
Condensor: 300
Evaporator: 400

Price comes to: $ 1110 for all that.
Those are all brand name parts also.

They are beautiful! but the a/c has problems. its the same one on the late 944s. the evaporators tend to go bad. but they are SOOO fast!

How do i get a coil out of a 944 porsche?

Question by : How do i get a coil out of a 944 porsche?
It’s a 1987 Porsche non-turbo model. Im replacing the coil and it seem to be stuck when i try taking it out. It looks like the only thing holding it in is a medal piece wrapped around it, but there is nowhere to unscrew it. Help?

it helps if you remove the power steering reservoir. you can leave the hoses connected, just loosen the clamp and move it out of the way. that way you can get to the fastener for the strap holding the coil in place. should be underneath the coil.
